A wide variety museums with online content are available on the Internet. Many have virtual exhibits, lesson plans, and curriculum materials. Only a few of the best are listed here; to find more, visit The Museum of Online Museums.

Exploratorium Online since 1993, Exploratorium, The Musuem of Science, Art, and Human Perception, has won many awards for its web site which has over 18,000 pages with information, activities, webcasts, and news on science, art, nature and technology.
The Smithsonian Hands down, one of the best sites on the web, with content for children, teachers, and researchers. Smithsonian Education  has great interactive activities (which require the Flash Player plug-in), and downloadable activity sheets.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art Search for specific pieces of art on their database, explore the timeline of art history and read thematic essays about different styles and time periods of art. Browse art by artist or subject.
Colonial Williamsburg You  may not be able to visit (home school weeks held twice annually), but you will find many online exhibits, interactive displays, electronic fieldtrips, podcasts, lesson plans, slideshows, iphone apps, primary source documents, and more!
The Newseum Read the daily front pages of newspapers from 75 different countries and from every state. Search the archives for a particular date or news item. Lesson plans available.
The National Zoo Go on a virtual field trip to the National Zoo using their live web cams, photo galleries, slide shows, and downloadable audio tours.
