International Children's Library A free digital library of outstanding children's books from around the world. The collection includes over 4365 books in 54 languages. Teacher's guide available.
Accessible Book Collection High interest, low-reading level digital texts for qualified people with disabilities. Subscription required.

K through College


Internet Archive A free digital library of  Internet sites (active and archived), downloadable software, movies, audio, live music, ebooks, and texts including children's books, fiction, historical texts, and  academic books. Software is available to convert text-to-speech for users who have blindness, low vision, or learning disabilities.
National Science Digital Library Funded by the National Science Foundation. Free resources for students, teachers, and researchers; however, young students will need assistance navigating this site. Curriculum areas include Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, and Social Sciences.
Bookshare.org Free accessible books and periodicals for individuals with print impairments (loss of sight, visual impairment, physical disability, learning disability, developmental disability and ESL). Free reading software and Braille options. Others may join (registration and annual fees apply).
LibriVox Free audiobooks from the public domain. Receive books in thrice-weekly podcasts, download complete books from the catalog, or subscribe through iTunes.
Internet Public Library A collection of Internet resources selected for accuracy and authority by librarians. Includes collections for kids and teens, as well as special collections, newspapers from around the world, and magazines. Ask a Librarian service.
Project Gutenberg Over 32,000 free books to download to your computer, iPad, Kindle, Sony Reader, iPhone, or other portable device. Human-read and computer generated audiobooks. Sheet music. All materials are in the public domain.
Library of Congress Free, online resources for kids, families, and teachers. Teacher resources include classroom materials, lesson plans, and primary documents sets. Access to digital collections and Ask a Librarian service. 
WorldCat The largest catalog of library content worldwide. Find an item of interest, and then find a library near you that owns it. Some libraries make their databases available through WorldCat. Some articles and digital items (like audiobooks) can be downloaded (you may need a membership at a WorldCat library to check out or download materials. Check with your local public library).
